Ιt will make his second appearance at the 2nd Mediterranean Beach
Games “Patras 2019”, tomorrow (15/9) in the Canoe Ocean Racing.

The 18 mens and 18 women will compete in the water track of the
Karteros Beach Sports Center in particularly difficult conditions,
which they tested in today’s (14/9) training.

Despite the fact that there will be a drop in the winds which have led
to the discontinuation of the Coastal Rowing and the postponement of
open sea swimming, however the forecast for 3 Beaufort NW (16km/h)
makes the 10km triangular course particularly challenging.

The teams of Spain, Portugal, Italy and France are the undisputed
favorites to win the medals.

The big name in the men’s race (12:00) is Portuguese European U23
Champion and World Junior title holder Bernardo Pereira.

In the women’s race (15:00), two Spanish women stand out, who even won
the silver and bronze medals at the 2nd Mediterranean Beach Games
“Patra 2019”.

The two-time European champion in 2021 and 2022 in Sea Canoe Judit
Verges Xifra and the 48-year-old multi-experienced Amaia Osaba
Olaberri, owner of 7 medals (3 silver, 4 bronze) in Marathon Canoe and
Sea Canoe in both World and European Championships.

From the Greek side, Markelos Petropoulos, Nikolaos Diakakis, Nikolaos
Renzi and Eleftheria Kaminari, Eftychia Alexandraki and the only
15-year-old – the youngest in both categories – Maria Kouklinou
participate.

This is a young team with talent, but with no experience from
international competitions with the exception of Kaminari, which also
participated in the 2nd Mediterranean Beach Games “Patras 2019”,
taking 8th place.
