The Spanish Paola Garcia Lothano looked like an imposing flamenco dancer on the sand at the 3rd Mediterranean Beach Games “Heraklion 2023”.

The karateka from Spain is only 17 years old and is already considered one of the best in the world. With a resounding and dynamic performance in the kata she won the gold medal in Heraklion. Garcia Lothano defeated Italy’s, Orsola D’Onofrio with a score of 25.9 to 24.8.

“I am very happy with the gold medal, but also with my performance in the competition. We may be competing on sand, but I seemed to be pretty good. I marked this because in a month I will be competing at the World Championships,” said García Lothano after winning the final.

Orsola D’Onofrio was surprised with her success, but also excited about her performance at the 3rd Mediterranean Coastal Games “Heraklion 2023. The Italian athlete said after her victory: “I am happy and surprised with this success. It is a very important medal for me. I feel like I won the gold medal.”

One of the two bronze medals in the women’s individual kata was won by Georgia Xenou with an impressive kata scoring 25.1 against 24.6 of her Moroccan opponent, Aya En-Nesyry.
