The medal ceremony for the winners of the Rowing Beach Sprint took place on Tuesday, September 12th, the at the central facility of Karteros Sports Center. Spain dominated the sport, winning all five gold medals in the respective events. After the end of the awards, the Spanish protagonists said:

Men’s Singles: Miguel Salas Córdoba (Spain): “I feel great for the gold medal. It was a difficult race, because of the windy weather. I had prepared for this event and my participation last week in the European Championships (Coastal Rowing) in France helped me. My next goal is the Coastal Rowing World Championships in Barletta. I am very pleased with the level of organization in Heraklion”.

Women’s Singles: Celia De Todos Los Santos de Miguel Gomez (Spain): “I’m excited because it’s my first medal in Coastal Rowing. I had prepared for this event and earlier I participated in Coastal Rowing in France, so it was a strong test for me in France before coming to Crete for the Mediterranean Games”.

Men’s doubles: Spain (Ander Martin Domingo- Adrian Miramon Quiroga): “We are happy for the medal and with my performance. It’s always difficult because of the conditions, but we were prepared for this event. We took part in camps and in the European Coastal Rowing Championships, but not together and in different boats”.

Women’s doubles: Spain (Ainoha Casanova Calpena- Nadia Felipe Garcia): “We are very happy for the gold medal. We wanted to do the rest of the races, but unfortunately the sport depends on the weather. We are coming from Coastal Rowing and the European Championships in France and we were in good shape”.

Mixed: Spain (Ander Martín Domingo, Adrian Miramón Quiroga, María Ángeles Pourcarea Damian, Carlos Gonzalez Buzon, Celia De Todos Los Santos de Miguel Gomez): “The gold medal is great, but we have mixed feelings because we only did one race. However, we had participated a week ago in the European Coastal Rowing Championships in France, even if they were different events, it helped us a lot here at the Games in Heraklion. The organization was also very good in our sport and it’s a shame that the weather conditions didn’t let us compete”»”.
