Balance and harmony are the main characteristics of the karate beach kata that will be held on September 10 and 11 at the 3rd Mediterranean Beach Games “Heraklion 2023”, in Heraklion.

The karate beach kata will take place at Venue 1, Karteros Beach Sports Center, which is the main Venue of the Games.

The participants from Spain, Italy and Greece have a good chance to shine in the women’s individual kata. Paola Garcia Lothano from Spain is the European champion and will compete for the gold medal in Heraklion as well.

In the men’s event, Damian Quintero’s participation stands out. The Spanish karateka (born July 4th 1984) won the silver medal in the men’s kata event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. He is also a three-time silver medalist in the individual kata event at the World Championships, a seven-time gold medalist in his event at the European Championships and a three-time gold medalist in this event at the European Games!

In 2019, Quintero won the gold medal in the men’s individual kata event at the World Beach Games held in Doha, Qatar. Born in Buenos Aires, he emigrated with his family to Malaga, Spain a few years later.
